The inflection point

Call us when the path from idea to production is unclear.

The right moment is when a valuable capability is stuck in a pilot—or an existing system is beginning to limit what the business can do next.

01

You know AI could improve a workflow, but not which use case deserves investment.

02

A promising AI demo lacks evaluation, security, integration, or a production owner.

03

A mobile product needs one team to own the experience, services, cloud foundation, and launch.

04

Peak traffic, rising cloud spend, or recurring incidents are slowing the roadmap.

05

You need senior architecture judgment and engineers who can also deliver.

Focused starting points

Reduce uncertainty
before the larger build.

Begin with a bounded engagement that creates a decision, a baseline, and a credible path forward.

How we engage

Evidence first.
Then decisive execution.

Every engagement is shaped around the decision or system outcome that matters. No oversized transformation program. No slide deck that leaves your team with the hard part.

Why BluePlane

Senior judgment stays in the room.

Complex systems work is shaped by context: product pressure, operational risk, team capacity, and the consequences of getting it wrong. That is why BluePlane keeps senior technical leadership close to both the decisions and the implementation.

“The person helping frame the problem is the person accountable for helping solve it.”
01

Principal-led throughout

Direct access to experienced engineering leadership from discovery through delivery.

02

Independent, tool-agnostic advice

Recommendations follow the problem—not a reseller agreement or a preferred platform.

03

Business-aware engineering

Tradeoffs are explained through risk, cost, time, and customer impact—not technical theater.

04

Your team retains ownership

Decisions, systems, and operating knowledge are built to remain with your organization.

Founder & principal engineer

Abdul Waheed

Cloud infrastructure · AI · Distributed systems

Abdul is a principal-level engineer with more than 15 years of experience designing, building, and operating cloud-scale distributed systems at AWS and Microsoft Azure. His work spans storage systems, compute control planes, API gateways, container infrastructure, security, and automation—from zero-to-one architecture through global production scale.

He founded BluePlane to give growing technology teams direct access to the same level of hands-on engineering judgment used to solve high-consequence infrastructure problems inside the world’s largest cloud platforms.

Selected engineering work

Engineering proof
at cloud scale.

These anonymized case studies reflect Abdul’s engineering leadership at major cloud providers before founding BluePlane. They demonstrate the scale and complexity of problems he has personally led.

01 / ReliabilityGlobal cloud storage
~95% 99.95%retrieval availability

Rebuilding reliability for petabyte-scale cold-storage retrieval

Constraint

The most common class of restore failures was creating customer impact and holding availability near 95%.

Leadership

Re-architected the distributed restore service around the dominant failure mode and drove the technical work through production.

Outcome

Raised retrieval availability to 99.95% while eliminating the leading category of customer-impacting failures.

02 / MigrationHyperscale object storage
10+ EBdata migration

Coordinating an exabyte-scale migration across five-plus teams

Constraint

A critical capacity limit required moving an extraordinary volume of object data into a different storage tier.

Leadership

Owned the architecture, customer experience, and cross-organization delivery across more than five engineering teams.

Outcome

Delivered the 10+ exabyte migration and resolved the underlying cloud capacity constraint.

03 / PlatformGlobal cloud compute
Billionsof daily API requests

Creating one secure gateway for seven compute organizations

Constraint

Independent compute teams needed consistent authentication, authorization, audit, routing, and configuration capabilities.

Leadership

Designed and shipped a centralized gateway that standardized the critical control-plane concerns.

Outcome

The gateway was adopted by seven compute teams and now supports billions of API requests each day.

Company and product names are intentionally omitted from the case-study narratives. Scale and outcomes are drawn from the founder’s professional experience; no former employer endorsement is implied.

A strong fit

Teams at a consequential technical moment.

  • A CTO needs an independent architecture perspective
  • A new mobile product needs end-to-end design and engineering
  • A scaling product is exposing reliability or cost limits
  • A platform or modernization initiative needs senior execution
  • The internal team wants a partner, not a replacement

Probably not the right fit

Generic capacity or predetermined answers.

  • × High-volume staff augmentation
  • × Lowest-bid feature delivery
  • × A rubber stamp for a decision already made
  • × A permanent dependency on outside consultants

Working together

Questions technology leaders ask.

How do you help with Generative AI? +

BluePlane can take an initiative from use-case selection and readiness through a production-minded prototype or full implementation. The work covers the application around the model: data, retrieval, agents and tools, enterprise integration, evaluation, guardrails, security, observability, cost, and team ownership.

Can you deliver an entire iOS and Android application? +

Yes. Mobile engagements can cover product definition, UI and UX design, iOS and Android implementation, backend service and API development, cloud infrastructure, authentication and data, third-party integrations, automated testing, store release, observability, documentation, and handoff.

What happens during the Reliability & Scale Diagnostic? +

Over 10 business days, BluePlane reviews one critical production flow through executive and technical interviews, architecture artifacts, and available operational evidence. You receive a constraint map, risk-ranked findings, target-state direction, and a prioritized 30/60/90-day plan, followed by an executive readout and engineering working session.

Do you only advise, or do you implement? +

Both. We can provide an independent assessment, lead a focused implementation, or work through the full path from diagnosis to knowledge transfer. The scope follows the outcome you need.

Can you work with our existing team and stack? +

Yes. BluePlane is designed to work alongside product, platform, SRE, and application teams. Recommendations start with your actual constraints and existing investments.

What happens in the first conversation? +

We discuss the business context, the system behavior you are seeing, what has already been tried, and the decision you need to make. If there is a fit, we suggest a focused next step.

Can we discuss sensitive architecture safely? +

Yes. We can put a mutual NDA in place before reviewing confidential architecture, operational data, or internal documentation.
